Benefits of AHA Skin Care

AHAs are excellent ingredients that benefit most skin types - as exfoliators-ideal for normal to dry skin. Why? They’re water-soluble molecules and work best when there isn’t too much oil-based sebum in the way. Their water-solubility also means they can exert mild humectant benefits on the skin, preventing excessive dryness.

However, that doesn’t mean oily skin types can’t benefit from it! No matter your skin type, AHAs are a miracle for brightening skin tone, fading away dark spots from acne, and even preventing acne in the first place. In other words, AHA acids = skincare heroes!

How Do I Know If Something Is An AHA Skin Care Product?

Here’s the thing - these ingredients won’t appear as ‘AHA’ on a skincare ingredients list.

AHA acids, skin care-wise, are actually a family of skincare ingredients that act incredibly similar to each other but with their benefits.

Glycolic acid is the most recognisable AHA skin exfoliator. Still, this family also includes lactic acid, tartaric acid, malic acid and citric acid - these are the most common ones that you’ll find in beauty products. AHAs also appear in chemical peels, which skincare professionals should only administer.

AHAs are usually formulated in exfoliating toners or essences, but they can also be added to scrubs to create an extra exfoliating boost for radiant, super-glowy skin!

Whichever type of AHA product you choose, we’re sure you’ll have noticeably brighter, luminous skin - all thanks to this skincare hero.
